Nicki Minaj Takes Over 106 And Park, Performs With 2 Chainz and Cam’Ron

It was a ‘Pink Tuesday’ yesterday as Nicki Minaj hit up BET for the 106 and Park Nicki Minaj Takeover in honor of her new album, ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’.   The television appearance, attended by tons of screaming and crying fans who had been waiting since 7am to see the Head Barb, including a ‘Nicki Minaj’ style-influenced fashion show, performances and appearances from folks like 2 Chainz, Birdman and Cam’Ron.

When 2 Chainz hit the stage, he told Terrence J, ‘It’s an honor to be standing next to the most influential artist in Hip Hop’.  He explained how he and Nicki had come up together on Lil Wayne’s ‘I Am Music Tour’ when he was performing under the name, Tity Boi.  Nicki went on to explain that she called up 2 Chainz to be on her new album and he jumped right in the studio:

I like stand up dudes that do what they say and say what they do. I have to say this, I am from an era that was hungry. Like really hungry! When I was selling my mixtape out my car, I was really selling my mixtape out of my car. I feel like artists right now, they putting out a single and then they are like, ‘I’m Here. I’m a hot MC in the game’. To me, it’s corny. You are suppose to be honored when people ask you to be on their album. You may not get that opportunity again, ever.
So Let me say this, the reason why Nicki Minaj came out of nowhere and slaughtered is because when people called me, I got in that studio and I sent a verse back in 24 hours. That’s what I was doing. I had lasik eye surgery. When Rihanna called me, I got the verse done in 24 hours with a patch on my eye. So I just wanna say 2 Chainz deserves every bit of success that he has right now because he’s hungry and he works hard.

Nicki ended the night with a 22 minute mini-concert where she kicked off her Alexander McQueens and rocked the stage with her Hypeman Safaree and appearances by Cam’Ron and 2 Chainz. The tracks performed included, “Roman Reloaded,” “HOV Lane,” “I Am Your Leader” featuring Cam’ron, “Beez in the Trap” featuring 2 Chainz, and “Champion.”
