Outlets includingMetro are picking up a report that claimsOne Direction heartthrobHarry Styles is dating singerLily Halpern.
According to the original New York Post story, Styles and Halpern have been “seeing each other for a few months” and, according to so-called “sources,” they are “getting quite serious.”
Running with the rumor, Metro’s headline blares: “Harry Styles breaks One Direction fans’ hearts with new US girlfriend.”
Except Metro failed to pick up on one crucial piece of the original story: Styles’ rep shooting down the Halpern buzz and saying flatly, “Harry is single.”
Oops.
Despite not having a girlfriend for the tabloids to target, Styles made quite an impressionon “Saturday Night Live” with his band mates over the weekend.
