Will Smith Talks Fatherhood: ‘It’s Really Easy With Boys’

Will Smith is returning to the big screen in “Men in Black III” – his first film following a three-year hiatus – and the 43-year-old star says he’s happy to be back in Agent J’s signature suit and shades.
“You know what I thought happened? I thought you decided to retire and let Willow and Jaden take care of you,” Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson jokingly told Will, referencing the actor’s two children with wife Jada Pinkett Smith (both of whom already have burgeoning acting/music careers), during the “MiB III” junket in Los Angeles on Thursday.
“I know, right? Listen — look, that’s a handful,” the proud dad told Shaun with a laugh. “That Willow, she is, uh… See, boys are easy. Like, it’s really easy with boys. It’s like, until you can beat me in a fist fight you’ve gotta do what I say!”
The third film in the “MiB” franchise sees Will (as Agent J) and Tommy Lee Jones (as Agent K) headed back in time, with Josh Brolin playing a young Agent K – an idea that came to Will while the group was working on 2002’s “MiB II.”
“I came up [with the idea] — I don’t remember, we were sitting on the set or something, I just loved this character, I loved this world and you know, even the people,” Will said. “[Director] Barry Sonnenfeld is the like, the absolute lunatic, [and] Josh Brolin is the secret weapon.”
And Will said Josh’s spot-on impression of Tommy will have audiences on their feet.
“People thought that Tommy Lee Jones was doing the voice over,” he explained. “No, that’s all Josh Brolin! I think it’s gonna be such a surprise for people.
“It’s a shock when you see him come on camera and then what’s a real tribute is a few minutes after he’s on camera, it just goes away,” he added. “It just absolutely goes away and you’re not even thinking about it, that’s just a young Tommy Lee Jones.”
“Men in Black III” explodes into theaters on May 25.
