Ted Stuffs Box Office Competition to Hit #1


The foul-mouthed bear is box office king.
Ted, starring Mark WahlbergMila Kunis and director Seth MacFarlane as a pot-smoking, dirty-minded stuffed animal, is on pace to win the weekend with a debut of approximately $51 million.
Early estimates put another new release,Channing Tatum’s male stripper extravaganzaMagic Mike, at #2 with an impressive $43 million.
That should be enough to knock last week’s winner, Pixar adventure Brave, to third place at about $35 million.
Madea’s Witness Protection, the latest offering from director-star Tyler Perry, is on pace for a very strong $27 million fourth-place debut.
After the Top 4, it’s a big drop to holdoverMadagascar 3, which should earn roughly $14 million for the #5 spot.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter should do about $6.5 million in business for sixth place.
According to projections, a quartet of movies are closely bunched in the neighborhood of $4 to $5 million: PrometheusPeople Like UsMoonrise Kingdom and Snow White and the Huntsman.
The overall Top 10 order remains to be seen.
