Alec Baldwin & Paula Deen Controversies: Are Their Outbursts Comparable?

It’s been a summer of inappropriate language, with Alec Baldwin and Paula Deen’s offensive words landing them in hot water.
Deen, of course, has seen her professional life implode after admitting in a court deposition to using the N-word, in a case involving other allegations of racist behavior and sexual harassment.
On Thursday, Baldwin lashed out at a Daily Mail reporter for wrongly claiming his wife Hilaria had tweeted during James Gandolfini’s funeral service.
In his rant, the actor called the writer, George Stark, a “toxic little queen” and threatened to “put my foot up your f**king a**… but I’m sure you’d dig it too much.”
While Baldwin did not use a specific phrase as offensive as the N-word, his tirade is being called homophobic and hateful.
TMZ and other outlets are drawing comparisons between Deen and Baldwin, suggesting that their remarks were equally bigoted and should be treated as such by the media.
What do you think?
Should Baldwin and Deen face similar consequences?
