Selena Gomez is currently wrapping up the European leg of her tour for Stars Dance, but her upcoming shows in Russia have just been abruptly cancelled.
The 21-year-old singer was denied a work visa to enter the country for concerts in St. Petersburg and Moscow scheduled for next Monday and Wednesday.
The Russian government claims it’s because of “complications” with her visa application, but other sources claim it’s because of Russia’s new draconian laws against gay rights. A petition on change.org went up earlier this week calling on the Come And Get It star to take a stand and speak out in favor same sex equality in Russia. The petition already has nearly 13,000 signatures. Gomez has not said either way if she’d be saying anything about the current situation at either of the Russian stops.
