Arsenio Hall is responding to Kanye West, who recently used Hall as an example of a black entertainer who supposedly got shut down for being too vocal.

In a recent radio interview, West said, “What happens if y’all don’t don’t buy [my] albums? People are gonna say, ‘Oh, he’s like Arsenio Hall, and he was turning up too much, and now you fired. But when you’ve got money, can’t nobody fire you.”
Hall fired back earlier this week at a press event.
“Like usual, Kanye’s premise confuses the facts, so then therefore everything else has to be thrown out,” the talk show host told reporters.
Hall continued, “At the end of the day he’s a musician I’m a comedian. We’re not doctors. Nobody works for Johns Hopkins… we’re not educators. And I think we take ourselves a little too serious. But that’s something that will straighten itself out with maturity.”
With regard to the end of his original show in the 1990s, Hall remarked, “I know what you heard in the barber shop, but I just left my show, the white man didn’t do nothing this time… save that for when the white man does do something!”
Hall tells West, “Don’t muddy the waters of racism with my bullsh*t because it was not racism, it was not a plot.”
He then took issue with the rapper’s use of the word “slave” in his music.
“I hate the word ‘slave’ used in songs,” said Hall. “Get the f*ck out of here. Do you know what that word is? Do you know what that word is all about? Nobody can use ‘slave’ in pop culture. If you’re in the music business you shouldn’t f*ck with that word. Too serious an error.”
