Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner Wrongly Linked

Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner are being linked romantically by some outlets that often prioritize sensationalism over fact-checking, including RadarOnline and VH1’s “The Gossip Table.”

The two stars presented together at last weekend’s Independent Spirit Awards, at one point posing together backstage (see top).

That was enough for RadarOnline to start speculating.

“No Blurred Lines Here! Robin Thicke’s Estranged Wife Paula Patton Cozies Up To Jeremy Renner,” shrieked a headline on the webloid, noting that Patton “couldn’t stop smiling, especially when he placed his hand on her bare leg while they sat together.”

On Tuesday, “The Gossip Table” took the bait, pretending to have “sources” who said Patton and Renner “were indeed looking very cozy.”

So, is there any truth to the new couple alert?

NO.

A source close to Patton tells Extreme Entertainment that she and her Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol co-star have known each other for a while, worked together as presenters at the Spirit Awards, and that’s all.
