Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Soars To Opening Weekend Blowout Win

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1crushed the box office competition, earning $123 million in its opening weekend. That allowed the blockbuster Jennifer Lawrence sequel to easily win the #1 spot.
Despite that success,Mockingjay – Part 1 had a lower domestic opening than its predecessor,Catching Fire. That flick opened with $158.1 million last year, topping the first installment,The Hunger Games, which debuted with $152. 5 million in 2012.
