Beyonce has seemingly been cast in The Big Short, alongside such heavy-hitters as Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale. The news leaked out when Michael Lewis, the author of the best-selling book on which the movie is based, casually mentioned on “CBS This Morning” that he believed Beyonce had been added to the all-star cast (video below).
Like the book, the character-driven film is set to focus on a number of people on Wall Street who foresaw the housing collapse and accurately bet against mortgage bonds being paid up in full and on time, which led to the stock market’s 2008 crash. Those prescient businesspeople ended up making a fortune, while several banks were left with billions in debt. It’s unclear who Beyonce would play. Extreme Entertainment has reached out to reps for Beyonce, the production company (Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment), and its distributor (Paramount Pictures).
Beyonce, of course, has some movie experience, having starred in such films as Austin Powers in Goldmember, Cadillac Records, and Dreamgirls.
