Gwyneth Paltrow Divorce From Chris Martin Needs Judge’s Signature

Gwyneth Paltrow is asking for a default judgment in her divorce from Chris Martin to make the dissolution of their marriage official.
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, Paltrow and Martin announced their “conscious uncoupling” in early 2014 after more than 10 years of marriage. In early 2015, it was said they had finalized their divorce agreement and worked out custody arrangements. But now a year later, no court progress has been made.
But while that is often the sign of a contested divorce, that’s actually not the case here. Martin never filed a response to Paltrow’s petition, and rather than doing so now, the actress is simply requesting a judge to move the case to the next stage since so much time has passed. Once the judge signs off, it will likely be another six months before the divorce is official.

The couple reportedly elected to continue working on their property settlement in private rather than have Martin file counter documents to Paltrow’s original petition. Everything is now squared away, and their peaceful post-split dynamic appears to be going strong. In fact, Paltrow posted an Instagram photo with Martin from Disneyland just last week. The estranged spouses are pictured above in 2014, before the breakup.
