Kristen Stewart mesmerizes Nicholas Hoult with a bee in a new clip from the upcoming sci-fi drama Equals. “According to the laws of aerodynamics, they shouldn’t fly,” Stewart’s character says after trapping a bumble bee under a glass. “But they don’t know it, so they fly anyway.” Hoult’s character remains fixated on Stewart’s eyes and in awe of her knowledge of insects as she sets the bee free.
As Extreme Entertainment has reported, Hoult and Stewart play forbidden lovers in the film, which takes place in a future dystopian society where human emotion has been eradicated and falling in love is a crime. Silas (Hoult) and Nia (Stewart), however, develop an attraction for one another that might cost them their lives.
Equals made its U.S. premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, and had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last September. It was also later screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. During a recent interview about the film, Stewart revealed that playing her character was “painful,” yet “cathartic,” and she’s turned into a “completely different” person as a result of making the movie.
Equals is currently available to rent exclusively on DirecT before it hits theaters on July 15. !
