Matthew McConaughey has been an “absentee dad” to his three children, and his wife Camila Alves is having a “hard” time with it, claims one of this week’s tabloids. But is his “nonstop schedule” really causing trouble in his marriage, as alleged? Extreme Entertainment looked into this report, and has the exclusive about whether it’s real or just an inaccurate rumor.
According to OK!, McConaughey credits Alves for “inspiring his recent career revival, but it seems her exhortations worked a little too well.” The tabloid claims a “source” says McConaughey’s tireless schedule has left his wife “to parent their three tots virtually on her own.” “It’s been hard on Camila,” alleges the magazine’s supposed “source,” adding, “Matthew’s currently shooting in South Africa, and he’s been gone a lot over the past two years.”
The publication then claims the Oscar winner has “assured his wife that’s he’s winding down,” because he sees his leading man status ending shortly. “He promised Camila that he’ll take next year off to be with the family,” says the tabloid’s “source,” “but she’ll believe it when she sees it.”
While all very dramatic, the magazine’s story is 100 percent wrong. A source close to Alves exclusively tells Extreme Entertainment, “She goes to every movie set with him and brings the kids.” And, we hear, “The family loves to travel together.”
Extreme Entertainment is not entirely surprised that OK! published this false report because its track record with McConaughey and Alves is abysmal. We corrected the tabloid 17 months ago when it claimed Alves was pregnant with the couple’s fourth child. Obviously, that was not true nor was the magazine’s story 11 months ago that Alves and McConaughey were “on the rocks.” Much like those tall tales, Extreme Entertainment can debunk the latest claim that McConaughey is an “absentee dad,” and that it’s been “hard” on Alves.
