Hillary Clinton is slamming Donald Trump for his newly-resurfaced body-shaming comments about Kim Kardashian. She’s also calling out her rival presidential candidate for remarks about Rosie O’Donnell and Alicia Machado.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Machado claimed this week that Trump called her “Miss Piggy” and other fat-shaming names after she gained weight during her Miss Universe reign. That led to increased attention this week to things the Republican nominee has said about women over the years, such as digs against long-time nemesis O’Donnell. And, as seen in a 2013 clip from “Showbiz Tonight” now circulating online, Trump said of a then-pregnant Kardashian, “She’s gotten a little bit large. I would say this, I don’t think you should dress like you weigh 120 pounds.”
Clinton is now coming to all three women’s defense. After Trump sent a few tweets early Friday morning that bashed both the Democratic nominee and Machado, Clinton fired back with messages about her opponent’s comments on women and how it relates to his suitability for president. “What kind of man stays up all night to smear a woman with lies and conspiracy theories?” asked the former First Lady.
She continued, “Alicia deserves praise for courageously standing up to Trump’s attacks. And he has the gall to blame her — and say he ‘helped’?” Clinton went on to note, “Trump obsessively bullies Rosie O’Donnell — an accomplished actor. He insulted Kim Kardashian for her weight — when she was pregnant. Pathetic.”
“We’ve heard Donald’s insults for years, and his policies reflect this disregard — even contempt — for women,” Clinton added. Trump has not yet responded. The candidates, who are pictured above at Monday’s debate, are set to face off again on October 9.
