“Late Show” executives are NOT considering firing Stephen Colbert and having either James Corden or Neil Patrick Harris take over as host, despite a completely fabricated tabloid report.Extreme Entertainment can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told it’s “100 percent false.”
According to the National Enquirer, network executives are worried about Colbert’s allegedly poor ratings, and are ready to switch up their late night schedule. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “They just cannot keep going on as the numbers continue to decline. There is talk about moving James Corden up from ‘The Late Late Show’ into Colbert’s slot.” The outlet’s supposed insider further contends CBS’ other option is to keep Corden at 12:30 and have Harris become the new “Late Show” host.
But Extreme Entertainment checked in with a highly placed source close to the situation, and we’re exclusively assured the tabloid’s report is “100 percent false.” Colbert isn’t in danger of losing his talk show gig, and the magazine’s claim otherwise is both unfounded and untrue. In fact, Extreme Entertainment corrected the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, when it wrongly reported earlier this year Colbert’s “Late Show” might get canceled. There was no truth to the assertion then, and it’s no more accurate now.
