Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are not “ending” their marriage after 28 years, despite a new tabloid report. Extreme Entertainment can exclusively correct the claim they’re headed for a “split.” We’re told it’s “all garbage.”
According to Star, even though Hanks is known as “Hollywood’s Mr. Nice Guy,” he’s now “headed for a not so happy ending.” The tabloid alleges his marriage to Wilson is on “shaky ground” and “beyond rescue” because they’re allegedly always fighting. A so-called “source” tells the often disproven publication, “Tom has this folksy Regular Joe image, but he can be abrasive, cold and controlling, which puts a lot of stress on Rita.” The same supposed “insider” asserts, “Things are really going downhill fast,” and it’s “only a matter of time before she pulls the plug.”
The magazine’s source, who seemingly hid inside a closet of Hanks and Wilson’s Los Angeles-area mansion, tells the outlet that during an argument, “Rita said she was tired of the lack of time they’ve been spending together. Tom felt blindsided and hit the roof, and things got so heated that Rita stormed out of the house.” “To call it a blowout would be an understatement,” continues the outlet’s specious source. The questionable “insider” further alleges, “Rita’s been complaining forever about what a workaholic he is and how hard it is always playing second fiddle to his job,” before adding, “Working nonstop is a kind of an escape for him.”
The tabloid then fills out its article by throwing a lot of things against the wall, hoping some of it will stick. The outlet alleges, for example, Hanks has “grown close to his Inferno costar felicity Jones,” which has lead to “Rita’s resentment.” It also contends the couple’s son Chet’s problems with substance abuse is “fracturing” their relationship. And, argues the publication, Wilson’s breast cancer, which led her to undergo a double mastectomy, added to her and Hanks’ marital woes. The magazine writes, “Battling cancer can test even the most solid of marriages, and while some survive like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who had a double mastectomy… Tom and Rita seem to be collapsing under the strain.” Not only is the Brangelina example poorly timed, but the publication’s “insider” wrongly claims, “Once [Wilson] recovered, things fell apart.”
Extreme Entertainment looked into Star’s allegations, and we’ve learned they are completely untrue. Hanks and Wilson’s marriage is intact. An impeccable source close to the couple assures us the tabloid’s report about them on the verge of a “split” is “all garbage.” And a rep for Hanks also exclusively tells Extreme Entertainment the cover story is total “bullsh*t.”
Unfortunately, we’re not surprised by the falsity of the magazine’s latest article. A little more than a year and a half ago, the tabloid tried to peddle the same Hanks and Wilson divorcestory on another cover (see below), and Extreme Entertainment was told the outlet’s speculation was “utter rubbish.” The allegations weren’t true then, and they are no more accurate now.
