Classical Week wrapped up on “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday with a surprising set of pairs in the dance duel and an unexpected elimination.
(SPOILER: This story contains the results of Tuesday’s show.)
After the Week 7 “dance-off” for the judges, the third in a row this season, Jaleel White and partner Kym Johnson were eliminated.
The two competed against Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower, but after the pairs’ side-by-side number, the judges unanimously chose to save the younger team.
Roshon and Chelsie’s closeness during the dance duel proved to be their selling point to the judges.
Carrie Ann Inaba said they had “extremely good chemistry,” while Bruno Tonioli cited their “connection.”
As for Jaleel, who had a headline-making season after allegations surfaced several weeks ago that he and partner Kym had a heated rehearsal spat, the former “Family Matters” star told show co-hosts Brooke Burke and Tom Bergeron he was leaving happy.
“[I’m going to] tell you a secret, I really only thought I would last about three dances in this competition and I wanted to get three good dances off. That’s what I told my momma. I said, ‘Mom, I’m gonna give you three good dances. I promise you I [am not] going out first,’” Jaleel recounted after getting the news. “So, to get this far, I’ve made incredible friends. The fans have been incredible. I love Roshon Fegan, I’m happy they saved him. He has a bright future. Len, give him a 10.”
Kym took a moment at the end of the show to thank her partner.
“I’m so proud of you, Jaleel,” the Aussie dancer said. “You’re just amazing. Thank you so much for a great experience.”

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who entered Tuesday’s show under the impression they would be in the dance-off, were saved just before the Bottom 2 were revealed.
“Dancing with the Stars” continues next Monday on ABC.
