Mycle Wastman threw “The Voice” judges for a loop on Tuesday when he impressed by alternating between a deep baritone voice and a falsetto.
The 40-year-old sang Al Green‘s “Let’s Stay Together” — and that’s exactly what three of the four judges wanted to do with Wastman.
Both Adam Levine and Cee Lo Greengave a standing ovation, with the Maroon 5 frontman saying Wastman did “an incredible job.”
“When I turned around, I did not expect you to be you,” Levine confessed, “and I’m so happy you are you because it’s so different.”
Green called Wastman “the total package,” adding, “I’m the most excited about you than anyone else today.”
Blake Shelton, who also turned around, agreed, saying, “You are the best vocalist we have heard today. That is fact.”
But it was Green who won over Wastman in the end, particularly after the always-humble performer told him, “Nobody does soul music better than Cee Lo Green, so you should be on my team.”
