Two of Star Trek’s original writers have started a Kickstarter campaign to make a sci fi TV pilot – and they’ve got the support of icon Leonard Nimoy, RumorFix has learned.
Science fiction writers David Gerrold, DC (Dorothy) Fontana and producer David C. Fein are trying to make history by raising funds to shoot and create their new science fiction adventure TV seriesThe Star Wolf.
The producing team is hoping to raise $650,000 — they have about 10 percent of it and they’ve only got six days to go.
Leonard Nimoy, who makes a cameo in Star Trek: Into Darkness, says, “David Gerrold and Dorothy Fontana gave us some of the best writing we ever had on the original Star Trek series. I, for one, will be eagerly looking forward to see what their creativity will offer us on The Star Wolf.”
David also gets kudos from Big Bang Theory Executive Producer Bill Prady, who says, “When I began my career, everything I knew about how television was written and produced came from David Gerrold’s books. I can think of no one more deserving of the chance to pilot a TV series.”
The series also features original Star Trek cast member Nichelle Nichols, who was known as Admiral O’Hara, and has been endorsed by Kerry O’Quinn, science fiction authority and former publisher of Starlog magazine.
The new science fiction adventure series, based on Gerrold’s best-selling The Star Wolf book series, is about a crew of regular people caught up in an interplanetary war between the human race and the animalistic Morthans.
