The trailer for Divergent premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Sunday.
Based on the book series by Veronica Roth, the highly-anticipated adaptation is about a futuristic Chicago, where society is divided into five different factions — the brave, the selfless, the honest, the intelligent, and the peaceful.
When Tris — played by Shailene Woodley — discovers that she’s divergent and fits into more than one group, she’s forced to hide her true nature in order to survive.
Theo James, Kate Winslet and Ashley Judd also star.
The movie is slated to open in theaters on March 21, 2014.
