Ben Woolf is dead. The “American Horror Story” actor died from a stroke on Monday, several days after suffering a head injury when he was hit by a car. Woolf was 34.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Woolf was struck in the head by the mirror of a passing SUV as he walked across a street in Hollywood last Thursday. He was hospitalized in intensive care, before being upgraded to stable condition on Friday. He remained under heavy sedation, however, and had not woken up from the accident.
Now TMZ reports Woolf never regained consciousness, and had a fatal stroke on Monday at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Woolf’s family says in a statement, “We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from all over the world for our beloved Ben. He touched so many hearts in his 34 years.” The family further says Woolf’s organs will be donated, and he will be remembered in a memorial service held in Santa Barbara next week.
The 4’4″ Woolf, who had pituitary dwarfism, portrayed Infantata in the first season of “American Horror Story” and played Meep in the recent “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” The actor was allegedly jaywalking at the moment he was hit, so the unidentified driver of the SUV was not ticketed. Extreme Entertainment sends condolences to Woolf’s family, as well as his friends and colleagues.
