Robert Durst, who was arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering his friend Susan Berman in 2002, was never a member of the band Limp Bizkit, despite a report from the AP. The news wire wrote in a brief in Monday, “A Louisiana State Police trooper says millionaire Robert Durst has been booked on weapons charges in that state – on top of a first-degree murder charge lodged by Los Angeles authorities. Trooper Melissa Matey told the Associated Press that an arrest warrant was issued for the former Limp Bizkit frontman and he was rebooked in the Orleans Parish Jail on Monday under two new charges” (see below).
Whoops. Robert Durst was not the former Limp Bizkit frontman, Fred Durst was. It was only after Jim Romenesko pointed out the error to the AP that the outlet issued the following correction: “The Associated Press reported erroneously that Robert Durst is a member of a band. He is a real estate heir; Fred Durst is the former frontman of Limp Bizkit.”
That said, Robert Durst is 71 years old and could very likely earn the nickname in prison of “limp bizkit,” but until then he’s just an eccentric who on HBO’s “The Jinx” seemingly admitted to murdering his wife Kathleen, Berman, and a neighbor in Texas. In the show’s finale, Robert Durst is heard on a mic rambling to himself, “You’re caught” and “Killed them all, of course.” Ironically, the group Limp Bizkit recorded a song called “Gimme The Mic.”
