James Franco is not dating the “mystery girl” he was recently seen with in pictures, and the woman’s identity isn’t a mystery at all. It’s his assistant.
A number of online outlets speculated the Franco had an unidentified girlfriend after he was seen supposedly being “affectionate” with a woman at New York’s Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday. The usually reliable JustJared even ran the headline, “James Franco Kisses Mystery Girl During Movie Date,” and posted photos of what was deemed to be “PDA.”
To be fair, a close look at the pictures in question show Franco leaning in and appearing to whisper something in the woman’s ear… except he has his lips puckered. Still, Franco took to Instagram on Thursday to mock the claims, writing, “Damnnnnnn. Just Jared’s Pappo gets the nasty scoop!! I’m dating my assistant!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥” Of course, Franco has carried on plenty of shenanigans for paparazzi before.
As Extreme Entertainment reported in 2013, Franco staged a number of would-be scandalous moments. The actor, for instance, faked having “car sex” with a pal and then posted the paparazzi pictures online with Perez Hilton-style scrawl over it, writing, “Franco Tryst! Who’s That Guurl?” Another from the set targeted JustJared, with the caption, “Look closely Mr. Road Head#justjared #paparazzipics #jamesfrancotv.” He followed up with similarly suggestive, but staged shots mocking Gawker for posting gay rumors about him and the Huffington Post for speculating about a “mystery girl” and his connections to Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus.
