Olivia Munn And Aaron Rodgers NOT Engaged, Despite Report

Olivia Munn is not engaged to Aaron Rodgers, despite a widely spread inaccurate report. The actress herself has debunked the rumor, which was started by one of the tabloids and quickly picked up by a slew of outlets that neglected to fact-check the claim.
According to OK!, which began the maelstrom of misinformation, “The Green Bay Packers quarterback popped the big question and asked for Olivia’s hand in marriage” over the holidays. The tabloid then quotes one of its either fake or ill-informed sources as saying, “Olivia wasn’t expecting it, but they’re so in love he just couldn’t wait.” The magazine also claims that Rodgers “asked for her family’s approval first, then proposed over a romantic dinner.” What’s more, claims the outlet, Munn and Rodgers “plan to marry in his hometown of Chico, California.”
What should have been the first clue that the story is entirely untrue is that OK! has zero facts. The tabloid alleges they got engaged over the holidays, but doesn’t know when exactly. Furthermore, the magazine says that he “proposed over a romantic dinner.” Again, the outlet has no idea when that was, nor does it furnish anything concrete about where the proposal supposedly took place.
But Munn herself says it’s entirely untrue, and on Tuesday posted an Instagram conversation (below) between herself and her mom, who wondered why her daughter didn’t tell her “first” about the engagement. In response, Munn replied to her mother, “Oh my gosh Mom no. You know you shouldn’t believe gossip on the internet.” She jokingly added, “If I was engaged, I promise you’d be like the 8th person to know. Maybe 9th. But definitely way before the internet.”
Munn explains in an accompanying caption, next to a screen shot of her conversation with her mother, “Answering yes or no to personal questions can be tricky because if you say ‘No’ it means whenever you say ‘No comment’ that kind of becomes your default ‘Yes.’ But since I’m doing press for the next few days, I didn’t want to have to answer the same question over and over. So instead, I’m going to let my text conversation with my Asian mom help me out.”
