Paul Rudd and Selena Gomez star in the upcoming comedy/drama The Fundamentals Of Caring. The first trailer for the Netflix movie has just been released online. Watch the preview below!
Rudd plays a retired writer who becomes a caregiver to a foul-mouthed, wise-cracking teenager (Craig Roberts) who’s suffering from muscular dystrophy and confined to a wheelchair. The two embark on an impromptu road trip to visit all of the rare landmarks the boy has become obsessed with while watching television. Along the way, they pick up a sassy runaway (Gomez) who joins them on their cross-country adventures.
The film, which is based on a novel by Jonathan Evision, was written and directed by Rob Burnett, who was a longtime producer on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” It served as the closing-night screening at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it received a positive reception from both critics and audiences.
The movies marks one of three big-screen acting roles in 2016 for pop star Gomez. She can also currently be seen in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and co-stars later this year in the James Franco drama In Dubious Battle. The Fundamentals Of Caring will be available to stream June 24 on Netflix. Watch the first trailer for the film below!
