Selma Blair is apologizing for her alcohol and drug-fueled outburst and blackout on a flight Monday to Los Angeles from Cancun that resulted in her being forcibly removed from the plane and hospitalized. The actress, who was returning from a vacation with her 4-year-old son Arthur and the boy’s father Jason Bleick, says she’s “sorry” for her “big mistake” and is “filled with shame.”
As Extreme Entertainment reported, after mixing wine with prescription medication while sitting in First Class, Blair started loudly saying, “He burns my private parts,” “He won’t let me eat or drink,” “He beats me,” and “He’s going to kill me.” Concerned for her well-being, the plane’s pilot radioed LAX airport and as soon as the flight landed, paramedics took Blair from the aircraft by stretcher.
In a statement to Vanity Fair, Blair says, “I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.” She notes, “My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace.” “I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath,” continues Blair, adding, “I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
