Rihanna Talks Competition On Jonathan Ross: ‘We Can Not Stand To See Another Woman Do Better Than Us’

Rihanna is not about to have another artist come swap up her spot! That is why she’s always touring, shooting music videos and coming up with new styles to stay ahead of the game when it comes to females in the industry.  It ain’t easy being #1.
She recently  hit up the British comedy/talk show Jonathan Ross for a performance of ‘Talk That Talk’ as well as some small talk about the single life, controversy and competition. During the interview,  she discussed her obsession with Adele , being kicked off a farmer’s land in Ireland doing her ‘We Found Love’ video shoot and admitted to being competitive with other female artists.  According to Rihanna, women have bigger egos than men and can not stand to see other women do better than us.  She also revealed in the interview that although people find her performances and the way she dances as sexual, she believes it’s a cultural thing. That’s just the way they move in Barbados.
Peep excerpts and video of the interview and performance below:
On being competitive with other artist
It will always be a competition and that’s why I feel like women are becoming so dominant in music right now because we’re very competitive beings and we cannot stand to see another woman do better than us, That bothers us a lot. As much as you guys have egos, our egos are a little bigger. We’re just a lot better at hiding them.
On being booted off the farm in Ireland for being topless while shooting the ‘We Found Love’ video
I’m just gonna blame the director, Melina. We’re both crazy and that’s why we work so well together but we have no way of reeling each other in. But it didn’t really work out for us in Ireland that way before the farmer came and got us quickly off of his land He just had a different…his personal morals…and it was okay. We got the shot so it was fine. It was a win win. All we heard was ‘Chi-chi’ [Gun Sound] I’m just kidding. He didn’t have to say much really but he just came over, he was nice about it and I was trying to be even nicer.
On her steamy performances
I don’t really ever notice it or think about it until the feedback and it really made me think about it for a long time as to why it is this way and why people find it so sexual But going back to [carnival in] Barbados, Cropover this year I really noticed that its a cultural thing. It’s the way we move [..] as you can see me and the lady behind me and everyone else in the picture [are] half naked, having a good time. All that good stuff.
On being single
The single life is so overrated and maybe just for me. It sucks. You always want to be single when your in a relationship but trust me, that’s no bueno. I think that I have such incredible experiences in my life that you don’t want to live your life and then meet someone. You want to share your life with someone and I feel like that’s what I’m missing right now.
On whether guys are intimated by her and whether she has/will considered dating someone that’s not in the industry
Yeah but if in that case [they are intimidated], then they probably aren’t the right one because I can’t do that. It really doesn’t matter [if they are in the music business], I don’t really think about that kinda stuff. I’d love to date somebody cool, fun and funny.
Meanwhile, there were random appearances and reaction shots of Lionel Richie, who was also a guest on the show,  throughout her interview.
