The Hunger Games Expected to Beat New Releases, Set Record

The Hunger Games is expected to hold off American Reunion andTitanic 3D to win a third consecutive weekend at the box office.
Jennifer Lawrence’s blockbuster turn as heroine Katniss Everdeen is projected to earn approximately $35 million over Easter Weekend, thereby hitting the $3oo million mark in record time (17 days) for a non-summer or non-sequel movie.
On Friday, The Hunger Games crossed $400 million worldwide.
American Reunion should open to $22 million or so, good enough for second place ahead of the Titanic re-release, which is tracking toward $16 million.
Other milestones this weekend should include 21 Jump Street hitting $100 million overall and The Lorax crossing $200 million.
