Lucca left out the word “b***h” in the song’s lyric, “I’ve got 99 problems but a b***h ain’t one.”
While coaches Blake Shelton said Lucca’s version minus the word was “really cool,” andCee Lo Green noted that he “liked it,” Aguilera acknowledged the singer “sounded great,” but felt it was “a little derogatory towards women.”
Levine then jumped in and defended the song’s choice. He explained, “We’re not referring to women.”
Instead, said Levine, it was a “metaphor” for all the types of problems that are “bringing you down.”
“Girl problems,” Aguilera interjected, adding, “If that’s how you have to get points… ”
Levine then told Aguilera, “I love you Christina,” and ripped off his plaid shirt to reveal a T-shirt with pink sparkles that read, “Team XTina.”
