Arnold Schwarzenegger has admitted to having a “hot affair” with actress Brigitte Nielsenafter he and future wife Maria Shriver were already living together in the 1980s.
The confession comes in “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,” the former governor of California’s controversial new memoir.
Schwarzenegger and Nielsen’s fling came during the filming of the 1985 movie Red Sonja.
He writes that he knew the relationship with his co-star wouldn’t last long, and that it helped convince him to marry Shriver, which Schwarzenegger did in 1986.
Nielsen, who was briefly married to Schwarzenegger’s friend Sylvester Stallone, discussed the affair in her own memoir, published last year.
In a “60 Minutes” appearance set to air on Sunday, Schwarzenegger says his fling with housekeeper Mildred Baena — during which he fathered a secret love child — was the“stupidest thing” he’s done.
