Kate Middleton Strikes Back, Sues Closer Magazine Over Topless Paparazzi Photos

Kate Middleton and Prince Williamhave filed a lawsuit against Closermagazine, the French publication thatprinted paparazzi photos of a topless Middleton.
St. James’ Palace has released a statement declaring that “legal proceedings for breach of privacy have been commenced today in France” by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The precise terms of the lawsuit have not been revealed.
The royals had hinted at taking action against Closer earlier on Friday, when reps revealed that Kate and William were “saddened” by the shameless, invasive shots, showing Middleton sunbathing with her husband while vacationing at a private residence in the South of France.
A palace official added that “a line has been crossed” with the publication of the photos.
“Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them,” said an official at St. James’ Palace. “The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so.”
Diana, William’s mother, died in a car crash precipitated by paparazzi — in France — in 1997.
