Nicolle Nelson‘s beautiful rendition of “Hallelujah” on “The Voice” Wednesday was so amazing, all four coaches turned around.
The singer’s pitch-perfect, chills-inducing take on Leonard Cohen‘s classic prompted Adam Levine to turn around first, and Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton promptly followed.
“Sometimes good voices come along,” Aguilera told Nelson, “and there are great voices that come along, and you are one of them.”
Levine, who gave a standing ovation, said Nelson’s performance “just kept getting better,” and was one of his favorite takes ever on the song.
Added Green, “I just want to give prayers and thanks for your voice. I can say ‘hallelujah’ to that!”
But it was Levine’s team Nelson ultimately chose to join — even though she admitted to coming to the show with the intention of working with Shelton.
