Seth MacFarlane knows his way around live television — but it didn’t prevent him from messing up at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards.

The “Family Guy” creator was on hand to present the award for Best Reality Show Host, but no one could hear what he was saying, because he was standing in front of the wrong microphone.
“Oh, the mic’s over there!” said MacFarlane, realizing his mistake and crossing the stage.
Once he found the hot microphone, MacFarlane joked — in the voice of baby Stewie from his show — “This is what happens when you don’t come to rehearsal.”
Later, MacFarlane tweeted a sketch referencing his gaffe, and taking a jab at the Emmys for not recognizing his show (see below).
