Days before Ariel Winter’s mom goes to court hoping to regain permanent custody of her 15-year-old daughter, Chrystal Workman cleared the air on Dr. Phil.
Chrystal is very adamant that the Modern Family star wasn’t “taken from me.” She says her 35-year-old daughter, Shannelle Gray — who is also estranged –”went and hired an attorney and went to court and basically ripped my child from my life.”
She says Shannelle’s motivation was money. It was recently announced that the child star was making $75,000 a week and Chrystal claims that Shannelle — although a talented actress — has had a floundering career. “If she [Shannelle] thought I was abusive mother, why didn’t she get my child at birth. Would you leave a child with an abusive mother for 14 years?”
The motivation by Ariel — revenge for mom not letting her see 18-year-old Cameron Palatas.
In court documents Ariel made some pretty nasty claims like physical abuse (slapping, hitting and pushing her) and emotional abuse (accusing her of having weight issues).
Chrystal’s attorney, Roy Penuela, says there have been three investigations into the abuse allegations, including two by the Department of Children and Family Services, and all three have been dismissed.
“Did you or did you not abuse your daughter in any way at any time?” Dr. Phil asked.
“No, I have never abused Ariel in any way. I love Ariel with all my heart. She’s my baby,” Chrystal responded.
Chyrstal was also accused of being critical of Ariel’s weight and depriving her of food. “Nobody in my family, Dr. Phil, has ever gone hungry,” Chyrstal said.
Chrystal says she has only seen her daughter twice in the past year.
