It was hard to watch Glee on Thursday night and not think about Cory Monteith.
The star, who died at the age of 31 of a drug overdose, was seen for just a few seconds in a picture on his real-life girlfriend Lea Michele’s cellphone.
Lea’s character, Rachel Berry, had just been rejected at a New York audition and she looks at a photo of her high school friends including Finn Hudson. She then sings the Beatles tune “Yesterday.”
“Oh, yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away. Oh, I believe in yesterday,” she sang.
Glee producers aren’t dealing with Cory’s death until the third episode, which airs October 10, and many of the show’s stars have said it was done tastefully and respectfully.
Jacob Artist, who plays Jake, tells On Air with Ryan Seacrest, “There’s a bunch of beautiful songs in the episode. I think the writers did a really beautiful job representing all the love and respect we had for Cory and Finn. So, I think it’s going to be a real special episode.” -
