South By South West Accident: 2 Dead, 23 Injured After Car Plows Into Crowd

A car plowed into a crowd of people at South By Southwest on Wednesday night, killing two people and injuring 23 bystanders.

The driver crashed into barricades set up for the music and film festival, hit a number of people and then jumped out of his car and attempted to run before police stopped him with a stun gun.

A man and woman who were on mopeds were killed in the accident, and five of the people injured are in critical condition.

The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Red River Street and East 10th Street, near several bars and music venue The Mohawk, where Tyler, The Creator was headlining.

The driver is suspected of DWI.
