Scarlett Johansson is fighting for reproductive rights with a T-shirt she designed for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
The actress’ limited edition shirt is a part of the “Women Are Watching” campaign, which aims to inform people about women’s health issues and encourage them to vote in the midterm elections this November.
The front of the pink tee says, “Hey Politicians! The 1950s called…” with the back reading, “They want their sexism back!”

A longtime Planned Parenthood supporter who is now pregnant with her first child, Johansson was again galvanized after the Supreme Court ruled that companies like Hobby Lobby are not required to pay for coverage of employees’ contraceptives, if there is a religious objection.
“When I heard that some politicians were cheering the Supreme Court’s decision to give bosses the right to interfere in our access to birth control, I thought I had woken up in another decade,” Johansson said in a statement sent to Planned Parenthood supporters this week.
She noted, “Like many of my friends, I was appalled by the thought of men taking away women’s ability to make our own personal health care decisions. That’s when I knew I couldn’t sit on the sidelines and why I’m proud to support Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s Women are Watching campaign to ensure that young women know the high stakes for women’s health and rights this November.”
“Women are watching, and we will fight for candidates who will ensure that birth control is affordable and who will protect access to safe and legal abortion,” she added. “Women will be the key to the elections this November and it’s more important than ever that young women register to vote and vote for the candidate that will stand up and fight for them.”
Johansson’s T-shirt is the first of three celebrity-designed tees to be released, and it is available for purchase on the Planned Parenthood website.
Gabrielle Union and “Orange is the New Black” stars Natasha Lyonne and Selenis Leyva’s designs are slated to come out this fall.
