There’s a new Miss America!
Miss New York Kira Kazantsev was crowned the winner at the 2015 pageant in Atlantic City on Sunday.
The 23-year-old beauty queen beat out 52 other contestants, including runner-up Courtney Garrett of Virginia.
She takes over the title from fellow Miss New York Nina Davuluri, who won last year’s competition to become the first-ever Miss America of Indian heritage.
In fact, this is the third year in a row that the winner was from New York.
Kazantsev, who wins a $50,000 scholarship, was asked in the interview portion what women senators should take the lead on in Congress.
She argued that sexual assault in the military needs to be addressed.
For the talent round, Kazantsev sang “Happy” by Pharrell, using a cup as percussion.
The ceremony was once again hosted byChris Harrison and Lara Spencer, and featured celebrity judges including Kathy Ireland, Donald Driver, Shawn Johnson, and “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry.
1955 Miss America winner Lee Meriwetherwas also on the panel.
What do you think of the new winner?
