Jason Derulo is speaking out against the rumors surrounding his breakup with his long-time girlfriendJordin Sparks, including a ridiculous report that he got dumped because he impregnated another woman pregnant.
Over the weekend, MediaTakeOut falsely claimed that the couple split because of Derulo was cheating with model Carmen Ortega and had gotten her pregnant.
That’s not even close to being true.
Derulo called in to On Air With Ryan Seacreston Monday and set the record straight.
“I’m not one to throw my business out on the street, but I thought it was important because things are getting a little out of hand,” he said.
The singer explained, “I’m seeing all kind of stories about somebody getting pregnant, infidelity, things like me calling it off because of me being too busy and because of my newfound success. So I thought it was important for me to call in and clear the air.”
Derulo spoke candidly of split, saying, “What happened… in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons.”
“Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage,” he continued. “There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad times, it’s time to call it quits. It becomes something that is unhealthy.”
Although Derulo based his song “Marry Me” on his relationship with Sparks, he explained that he wasn’t ready for that kind of commitment.
“To be fair, it was not just from her either,” he said of the pressure to get married. “It was kind of from everybody. That’s not the sole reason, but it definitely played a part.”
As for how the exes are doing now, Derulo noted that he wouldn’t says they are on “good terms.”
“I’ll be lying if I said that, but it’s not a bad situation,” he stressed. “There’s no bad blood. We didn’t end off on a weird way or a negative way. It’s not like we’re hitting each other up, like, ‘Hey, what are you doing today?’”
