Amber Heard Accuses Johnny Depp Of Domestic Abuse, Wins Restraining Order

Amber Heard is accusing Johnny Depp of repeatedly abusing her, and seeking a restraining order on domestic violence grounds. UPDATE: Heard was granted the restraining order. See below.
Heard, reportedly with a bruise on her face, and her lawyer went to court in Los Angeles on Friday morning to request a temporary stay-away order. She and the attorney brought photos showing bruising they claim is from past assaults he committed, and said they also have video of one alleged physical fight. Heard argued Depp is an immediate threat to her safety, though he is currently out of state.
A close-up photo of Heard with bruising around her right eye has been sent to the media. She claims the marks are the result of Depp hitting her last Saturday night with his iPhone. It’s further alleged that the actress was on the phone with a friend during the incident, in which he was supposedly trashing the apartment they were in.
Heard claims she had her pal call 911 and the police came, but Depp had left before cops arrived. And because she declined to give a statement, the actor has not been arrested. Heard alleges Depp offered to pay her to keep quiet, but instead she filed for divorce Monday, listing their separation date as Sunday.
Depp’s own lawyer, famous divorce attorney Laura Wasser, was present at today’s hearing on his behalf. It is not clear if she is disputing the claims. If granted, the temporary restraining order would require Depp to stay a certain number of yards away from Heard. If later made “permanent,” it would stay in effect for three years.
Heard’s request comes just days after she filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. As Extreme Entertainment reported, she indicated in her petition she wanted spousal support. Depp’s counter documents asked the court to deny awarding that.
The former couple’s camps have been warring over the cause of the split, with his side alleging she treated his family poorly. Heard’s team denied that, and one source cryptically told People on Thursday, “Amber did what she had to do to take care of herself.” Extreme Entertainment confirmed that the breakup was not due to conflicting over whether to have a baby, as one report wrongly claimed.
Depp’s rep also released a statement saying, “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
Extreme Entertainment will have updates. Depp and Heard are pictured above in January.
UPDATE: Heard was granted the temporary restraining order at the conclusion of Friday’s hearing. Depp, who is currently in Europe, must now stay at least 100 yards away from her. The judge also gave the actress permission to stay in their shared home, but denied her request for protection for one of their dogs. Additionally, her calls for spousal support, attorneys’ fees and ownership of their Range Rover were also rejected for now. Another hearing will be held next month.
