Amber Heard filed divorce from Johnny Depp, citing irreconcilable differences. Heard and Depp reportedly did not have a prenuptial agreement, and so she is now seeking spousal support. According to Heard’s court filing, the couple split on May 22, which was a day before the premiere of Depp’s new film, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and two days after the actor’s mother passed away.Extreme Entertainment has reached out to reps for Depp and Heard for comment.
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Heard and Depp quietly married in February 2015 in their Los Angeles home. They then had a bigger wedding later that month on Depp’s private island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay, in the Bahamas. His kids, Lily Rose and Jack, from his relationship with Vanessa Paradis, participated in that ceremony which took place before 50 guests.
Heard and Depp met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2012 and got engaged in January 2014. This was the first marriage for Heard and the second for Depp, who was previously wed for a number of years to Lori Anne Allison. Depp was, of course, in a long-term relationship with Paradis, with whom he had his kids, before they broke up in 2012.
Depp appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” one day after Heard said they had separated, but gave no indication that he was going to get divorced. Instead, he joked with Kimmel about the apology video he and Heard made for having smuggled her Yorkshire terriers, Boo and Pistol, into Australia. Extreme Entertainment will update as we get more information.
