Amber Heard Arrested For Domestic Violence In 2009

Amber Heard was arrested for domestic violence in 2009, approximately seven years before accusing husband Johnny Depp of committing the same crime.
Heard was arrested after a dispute with her then-girlfriend, Tasya van Ree, allegedly turned physical at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington. Van Ree claimed Heard grabbed and hit her arm, which was enough for police to take the actress into custody. She was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence.
At a court hearing the next day, however, the Seattle prosecutor decided not to pursue the case since neither woman was a local resident. The matter was not settled for good, though, as the D.A. had a two-year window in which the charge could be refiled under the statue of limitations. But obviously that did not happen.
Heard and van Ree stayed together until 2012, after which she began dating Depp. They wed in 2015, and Heard filed for divorce late last month, before winning a restraining order after accusing Depp of abuse. The actor’s camp maintains the domestic violence allegations are merely Heard’s way of trying to obtain a “premature” financial settlement.
As for van Ree, there was unconfirmed speculation that she and Heard spent time together after the divorcing filing two weeks ago.
