Amber Heard “Wrongly” Arrested For Domestic Violence, Says Ex-Girlfriend Tasya Van Ree

Amber Heard’s ex-girlfriend, Tasya van Ree, said on Wednesday that the actress was “wrongfully accused” of domestic violence when she was arrested in 2009, and insisted that their dispute was “over-sensationalized.”
As Extreme Entertainment reported, Heard was taken into custody after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with van Ree at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington in 2009. The story has once again gained traction in light of Heard accusing estranged husband Johnny Depp of abusing her.
But now van Ree, the supposed victim in the 2009 altercation, is coming to Heard’s defense. “Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a power position,” van Ree said in a statement. “I recount hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which later appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just ‘friends.’”
The artist and photographer went on to note that the charges against Heard “were quickly dropped and she was released moments later,” adding, “It’s disheartening that Amber’s integrity and story are being questioned yet again.” van Ree further called Heard “a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman,” for whom she has “the utmost respect.” She concluded, “We shared five wonderful years together and remain close to this day.”
