Sharon And Ozzy Osbourne Split “Publicity Stunt” For Tour?

Is Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s split a “publicity stunt”? That’s one theory that has been heating up lately. But Extreme Entertainment can explain why that claim is unfounded.
“Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s big breakup is just a gimmick to revive interest in Ozzy before the heavy-metal rocker goes on tour,” declares the National Enquirer. The supermarket tabloid bases its allegation on Steven Machat, a former manager for Ozzy, who last worked with the star in the 1980s. That’s right… three decades ago.
Machat is quoted as saying, “I would money on it: It’s a publicity stunt. They’re going on a Black Sabbath tour. [Sharon] would do this in a minute — its propaganda!” He adds, “Sharon is clever enough to make a story that the press would read so all of a sudden he becomes relevant again.” It seems to Extreme Entertainment, however, that Machat is really talking about himself.
Why else would someone comment on the business and personal lives of a person he hasn’t worked with in approximately 30 years? And nowhere in this piece does Machat or theNational Enquirer explain how the Osbournes separating would increase Black Sabbath ticket sales. There simply isn’t a correlation.
But that hasn’t stopped outlets like the New York Post from trying to make a connection. And the National Enquirer previously tried selling this angle just last week. The magazine doesn’t have any more evidence this time around, but simply found a rather inconsequential person to back up its baseless claims.
The Osbournes may very well get back together. But if and when they do, it won’t be because of a Black Sabbath tour.
