It’s Angelina Jolie’s birthday on Saturday, and Extreme Entertainment is celebrating by looking back at five rumors we exclusively “blew out” about the Oscar winner. At 41, the star remains as popular as ever. And that’s certainly evident with the tabloids, which still put Jolie on its covers week after week. Of course, those stories are usually made up, and here’s just five crazy examples from the last year.
1. Last July, Extreme Entertainment busted the National Enquirer for claiming Jolie would be Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate. A so-called “source” was quoted as saying, “Angelina mounted a powerful argument, telling Hillary that if Republicans can take Donald Trump seriously as a presidential candidate, Hillary should certainly value cousin Jolie’s political achievements and appoint her as VP running mate.” We were exclusively told the political tale was “entirely false.” Of course, nearly a year later, Clinton is still fighting for the Democratic nomination, and certainly hasn’t picked Jolie to be her vice president.
2. In September, Life & Style brought back the old love triangle with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston when it alleged Jolie caught her husband making “secret calls” to his ex-wife. She “threw the phone and demanded to know why Brad was texting with Jen behind her back,” the magazine dramatically claimed. It was further said a “seething” and “insecure” Jolie was urging Pitt to “break off all communication” with Aniston. Extreme Entertainment, however, was assured by a source close to the couple that there wasn’t any “secret” calls or texts, and Aniston’s own rep even exclusively told us the story that was flat-out “made up.”
3. This past January, a silly story in Star alleged Jolie forces her staff to “see all of her movies, especially the ones that tank.” It was even said the actress, stung by the failure ofBy The Sea, gave all her employees a copy of the film as a Christmas gift, and was now “drilling” them to see if they actually watched it. But, added the outlet, Jolie wanted “positive feedback only.” Well, Extreme Entertainment had no positive feedback for Star, as this piece was a total dud, with one source exclusively telling us that the ridiculous movie claims were “not true.”
4. April brought an article from OK!, which claimed Jolie was feuding with Charlize Theron. The magazine accused Jolie of being “threatened” by Theron, but also “disgusted” with her fellow actress’ personal life. “Angie thinks Charlize ripped out Sean [Penn]’s heart,” said a supposed snitch, adding, “Don’t expect to see them sharing the screen, ever.” But this was just another instance of the tabloid wrongly, and randomly, pitting two female stars against each other. The feud allegation was simply “not true,” Extreme Entertainment was told.
5. And just this week, Extreme Entertainment called out the National Enquirer for an outrageous story alleging Pitt thought Jolie was “more concerned” with aiding refugees than caring for her own family. One tipster declared, “Her efforts to save the world’s refugees may be destroying her family in the process!” But it was all bogus, just like most of the magazine’s offerings. Extreme Entertainment was told the untrue article misrepresented Jolie and Pitt’s dynamic, and that the actor appreciates how deftly she balances her humanitarian efforts.
Unsurprisingly, these pieces try to make Jolie look egotistical and insane, as the gossip rags trade off making celebrities look bad. But Extreme Entertainment genuinely wishes the star a rumor-free birthday, and we vow to keep pointing out all the fiction.
