Gavin Rossdale will be joining the U.K. version of “The Voice,” but the rocker isn’t doing so to get revenge on Gwen Stefani, despite a ridiculous webloid report. Extreme Entertainment can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s “nonsense.”
The former Bush frontman announced Wednesday he’s going to be a coach on an upcoming British iteration of the popular NBC singing competition show, which his ex appeared on for two seasons. Of course, Stefani also met boyfriend Blake Shelton while working on the series, which has led Celeb Dirty Laundry to come up with the baseless theory Rossdale is taking on a similar project just to spite her. Without a single source to back up its speculation, the website claims Rossdale wants the same “publicity” that surrounded Shelton and Stefani.
The repeatedly refuted webloid goes on to allege Rossdale is “not only getting his revenge on Gwen” by co-starring on “The Voice U.K.,” but also “sending a clear message” that the “drama between them is not over yet.” The site further purports the rocker’s other reason for joining the show is “to find love the same way Gwen did with Blake.” But Extreme Entertainment checked in with a source close to the situation, and we’re exclusively assured the outlet’s story is complete “nonsense.” The British-born Rossdale’s new gig has nothing to do with Stefani, Shelton, or “revenge,” and the speculation otherwise is simply wrong.
Unfortunately, we’re not surprised by the webloid’s bogus article, as CDL doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to accurately reporting about the parties involved in this story. Extreme Entertainment previously called out the site for its tall tale about Shelton being “furious” with Stefani for spending Thanksgiving with Rossdale. The outlet’s latest claim is equally untrue.
