HollywoodLife.com chatted exclusively with Carly Rae Jepsen about how she first met Justin Bieber, collaborating with him on ‘Believe’ and more!
Carly Rae Jepsen is now being managed by Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun, but their business relationship started in the most low key way possible: a direct message on Twitter!
“I got a direct message from [Justin] on Twitter,” the 26-year-old singer told us exclusively when she was at Radio Disney for a Take Over with Ernie D that airs Friday, March 16 (3pm PT/6pm ET). “I’m not even joking. And it said, ‘I really believe in you.’ What do you say to that?!”
After Carly Rae got in touch with Justin, 17, they hit it off immediately.
“The first night I met him he showed me three or four songs from his upcoming album and I was like, ‘Those are great!’ He said, ‘What do you think of this fourth one?’ And I said, ‘That one’s great!’ And he said, ‘Do you want to sing on it?’” she revealed, explaining, “The song itself is really pretty. It was actually my favorite out of the ones he showed me. It’s a duet. It feels like a good fit.”
She said Justin surprised her with his songwriting abilities.
“I was personally shocked to find out how much of his material he writes,” she said. “He sings and he dances and he’s adorable. And on top of it, he writes! I didn’t know that about him. He exceeded all my expectations.”
We can’t wait to hear Carly Rae and Justin’s duet on Believe! Watch the rest of the interview above to hear more about the Biebs!
