The Canadian songstress picked up three trophies Sunday night in Toronto, including best video of the year for her breakout hit, "Call Me Maybe."
TORONTO – Justin Bieber protegeCarly Rae Jepsen was the big winner at the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards Sunday night, picking up three trophies, including best video of the year for her breakout hit, “Call Me Maybe.”
The Canadian songstress, who signed with Bieber and his manager, Scooter Braun,also saw the single “Call Me Maybe” from her Curiosity album earn the MMVA for most-watched video and the UR fave video of the year trophy.
Vancouver rockers Marianas Trench were the other big multiple MMVA winners in Toronto, picking up trophies for best video cinematography and best pop video of the year for “Haven’t Had Enough."
For his part, hometown boy Bieber, who arrived on the red carpet in Toronto with baby brother Jaxon in his arms, picked up the best international video of the year by a Canadian for “Boyfriend.”
And Drake took the MMVA for best hip-hop video for “The Motto" and Saskatoon rockers the Sheepdogs won for best rock video of the year.
Elsewhere, Katy Perry, on hand to perform at the Canadian music video awards in Toronto, also won for best international video artist of the year for her single “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
Meanwhile, co-host LMFAO won for best international video of the year for "Sexy and I Know It,” City and Colour earned the best indie video of the year for “Fragile Bird,” and Danny Fernandespicked up the best director of the year trophy for “Hit Me Up.”
The best postproduction of the year went to Down With Webster for their song “Big Wheels.”
The 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards aired on MuchMusic in Canada and Fuse stateside.
