The “Boss” star spoke at length about how his career was affected by his cocaine addiction, and the tragic deaths of his siblings, but a good portion of the interview focused on the demise of his marriage.
Grammer, who refused to utter Camille’s name, revealed that — for him — the marriage was essentially already over by the time it really got started.
He told Oprah that staying together was more about keeping up a facade, one that came crashing down in 2010 when he secretly started a relationship with then-flight attendant Katye.
So, why did the former “Fraiser” star participate with Camille on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”?
To him, it was a parting gift of sorts.
“I did believe that I owed something to that person,” said Grammer, “that I owed fame.”
“She always wanted to be famous,” he added.
Grammer alleged in the interview that “threats were made” by Camille during the divorce process and “some extremely unacceptable behavior took place in front of the children.”
He said he relies on “other people” to communicate with Camille when it comes to caring for their two young kids.
In her first-ever TV interview, Katye acknowledged that it was wrong to fall in love with a married man.
She told Oprah, “I’m not proud of the way we started out because he was in a marriage.”
Kayte said the most difficult part of her new life has been ”people judging” her and “not knowing anything about the truth.”
Still, the couple managed to stay together, and now they’re happily raising their “really good baby” Faith, who was born last month.
Grammer had nothing but praise for his wife.
“She’s genuine, she’s real,” he said. “And knows how to love.”
