Robert Pattinson made his first public appearance in the wake of Kristen Stewart’sindiscretion on “The Daily Show on Monday.

The situation with Stewart loomed large over the interview, with host Jon Stewart trying to offer the actor comfort — with ice cream.
Pattinson, whose new movie Cosmopolis had its big U.S. premiere in New York City after the taping, did not specifically address his relationship status, but laughed and smiled as Jon vaguely referenced the events of the last few weeks.
“What have you been up to?” Jon cheekily asked before breaking out some Ben & Jerry’s, and saying ,”We’re just a couple of gals talking. Tell me everything.”
When Jon asked Pattinson if he’s “alright,” the Breaking Dawn star admitted he’s been too “cheap” to hire a publicist, who might have helped him now.
Jon said ice cream helped him get through a “bad breakup,” and jokingly added that he thought they could “bond” and “talk about (in a gossipy girlish accent), ‘Boy, you are better off; kick her to the curb!’”
Pattinson laughed, and Jon went on to point out the “insanity” surrounding the movie star’s personal life right now, before going on to share some genuinely kind words.
“Here’s my wish for you,” Jon said. “That you get to handle your business in private, in your personal life, and I wish you all the best.”
From there the pair got down to business, and chatted about Cosmopolis, which Pattinson said he wanted to have a higher opening than The Dark Knight.
“The problem is it’s only released in six cinemas, so it’s going to be a challenge,” he joked.
